For most of the year the Valley of Flowers is quiet and under snow. Then the monsoon arrives, and for a few short weeks the whole valley turns into a garden.
When to go
The valley opens in June, but the real bloom runs from mid-July to the end of August. September brings clearer skies and golden grass as the flowers fade.
What you will see
Hundreds of species grow here — blue poppies, cobra lilies, primulas, potentillas and the sacred Brahma Kamal near Hemkund Sahib. Streams and waterfalls run everywhere.
Hemkund Sahib
The climb to Hemkund Sahib at 14,107 ft is steep but deeply moving: a Sikh shrine beside a glacial lake ringed by seven peaks. Pilgrims and trekkers share the trail with an easy friendliness.
Guests who have walked with us often say it was our guides’ knowledge of every flower and peak that made the trip. Explore the Valley of Flowers trek.
